.: Piercing Aftercare
Body Piercings: Before cleaning your piercing, make sure to wash your hand with antibacterial soap. Wash your piercing twice a day with Dial antibacterial soap. Use a Q-tip to clean jewelery. Gently move jewelery up and down to work the soap through the piercing. Rinse well. Be sure to rinse all soap off of the jewelery and out of the piercing. Apply liquid bacitne to the piercing twice a day as well. Move jewelery up and down to get the Bactine into the piercing.
NEVER use alcohol or peroxide.
DO NOT touch your piercing unless you are cleaning it. People who play with their piercings almost ALWAYS get them infected.
DO NOT attempt to change jewelery until healing is complete.
IT IS UP TO YOU TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR PIERCING!
Tongue: Rinse your mouth with Listerine when you eat, drink, or smoke unless you are drinking water. You can also use Glyoxide as well as the Listerine. Put one drop on the top, one drop on the bottom, and then rinse. You can find Glyoxide in the oral hygiene aisle at most drig stores. For the first 4 days, suck on ice and drink ice water to help keep swelling to a minimum. Avoid salty and spicy foods while you are healing. You now have a direct line into your blood stream. AVOID oral sex and kissing for the first 2 weeks. USE COMMON SENSE!
Lip Piercings: Follow the steps for Body Piercing and Tongue Piercing.
Healing times may vary depending on how well you take care of your piering. DO NOT overclean. This can cause the piercing to become irritated. Do not hesitate to call or stop in if you have any questions or concerns.
